Plant Pathology - George N. Agrios 5th ed (see other formats and editions) by
Plant pathology pdf.
20+ years ago I was asked by a publisher to write a book on the subject of plant disease. At that time a series of books was on the market but they were largely too specialized for me. I asked for the freedom to write as I chose, without the usual "boxed in" format of university textbooks. In return I would ask for the freedom to publish as I chose. They gave me their complete support, especially, their expert editing and book designer. The result was the acclaimed book, "The Botany of Disease" (1984)
With the ever increasing use of organophosphates by the chemicals industry and its sale and use by gardeners as well as growers, this book now finds a new audience. It is not as up to date as it would have been by 1996, when the first edition was published, but its purpose is still clear and clear, written for the general public, not the industry or the chemical industry. To this day, it has sold over 300,000 copies in 25 languages, and it is in print and in the libraries of about 100 colleges and universities.
This book is a "must have" for any serious gardener or grower and any small scale grower. It takes a step by step approach to all plant diseases, how they are identified, how they are caused and what can be done about them. It also describes the many synthetic chemicals that are used on plants and some of the potential hazards that they pose. It then describes some of the natural chemicals that are used in the maintenance of plants. It then describes the insect pests that attack plants, their life cycles and their prevention. Finally, it discusses pest management strategies that are safe to use in the garden.
It is written in a clear, concise and readable style that makes it an ideal reference manual for the lay person, not a book for advanced scientists.
When this book was first published in 1984 it was only in paperback. Since then, much has changed. The English language has changed dramatically, and so has the technology of publishing.
This new edition is in two volumes, one on Plant Diseases, the other on Insects and Diseases. It is published in an electronic format by Author be359ba680
